Foster Care Entrance
Phase II
Since Phase II of this project involves the Foster Community, I am even more enthusiastic about creating an environment that inspires! My entire objective for the Foster Care portion of this project, is to hopefully make a positive impact on these families.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if one day, as a successful adult, just one member of this community recalls how the colors, feelings, atmosphere of the Cobb County DFCS Foster Care area inspired them to continue to grow…to move forward…to think outside of the box…to fly!!
Welcome to:
Picture It! Give It Wings! Learn to Fly!
Anything is possible, if you allow your imagination to soar!
Imagine, as you walk into the Foster Care Entrance, the first thing you see are flying fish! Yes! Fish! Suspended from the ceiling, flying amongst the clouds! Not only are the fish flying, they are surrounded by a rainbow!
This wall will be painted Blue Burst 4008-10B.
The right and left of the entrance walls, will be done in a colorful stripe, inspired by rainbows. The rainbow message being all inclusive, welcoming.
These walls will be painted Elizabethan Yellow 3009-1
Straight ahead of the entrance is the Foster Care Hallway. With our message being “Picture It! Give It Wings! Learn to Fly!” we are continuing the clouds along the top of the left wall, with a series of three murals, depicting a city, town, and a farm on the lower portion.
Also painted Blue Burst 4008-10B
Flying in the clouds will be a series of characters… water creatures… fish, turtles, octopus, jellyfish, seahorse…starfish...crabs… flying from balloons, umbrellas, birds, who knows!! All of the ‘flying’ creatures have a commonality… they are colorful, non-flying, and come from non-traditional families!
The right wall of the hallway, coming from the FC Entrance would be painted Nautical 5007-9C.
Keeping in mind that this entire area is inspired by IMAGINATION, I visualize images, maybe some in 3D, in random sizes. Nothing in this area would be proportionate in size.
In the alcove, on the right side of the hallway, above the water fountain we would showcase the canvas of the multiple children, that originally hung in the CPS Hallway. That wall would be painted Meadow Twilight 6006-8C. The flanking walls, (restroom door walls) would be painted Cosmic Blue 4008-10C
All of the colors for Phase II were selected based on the message the color brings.
Blue: The color of the sky and sea. Symbolizes trust, loyalty, faith and truth.
Green: The color of nature. Symbolizes growth, harmony and safety.
Orange: The color of energy, enthusiasm and creativity.
Pink: Calming, kindness, universal love.
Aqua: Refreshing, calming, serenity
Yellow: Optimism, energy, fun, cheerfulness
