As you walk into Mary’s home in Kennesaw, the first thing you feel is energy. Busy energy.
In the foyer, directly across from the front door is a mirror, to the right is the dining room, the left is Mary’s office.
Artwork is on every wall. Mary loves art and color.
I propose an unusual, textured, round mirror on the facing wall of the foyer, using wall paper to coordinate with the dining room, adding texture and contrast. If no wallcovering, I would paint the walls Portabella, by Sherwin Williams.
Speaking of the dining room, I would highlight Mary’s artwork, by adding a geometric wallcovering above the chair rail, or a grass cloth wallcovering, drawing the eye to the artwork, showcasing it with more prominence.
We would replace the traditional dining table with a round table, mixing the chairs, adding upholstered pieces, painting below the chair rail, Portabella, by Sherwin Williams. (see paint color on carry along board)
As you move into the living space, the first thing you notice in the great room is the cathedral height ceilings. Let’s highlight the architectural detail of these impressive walls, with Plum Brown paint by Sherwin Williams. (see carry along board)
Appreciating Mary’s love of color, I would recover the existing upholstered chairs with a brightly patterned, colored fabric, adding colors from the same palette. Plum, pumpkin, denim, marigold. Warm, yet vibrant hues!
We would replace the window treatments in the eat in kitchen area with something along the same design concept. Current, vibrant shades, pulling from Mary’s artwork, and appreciation for her passion for color.
Please bear in mind, this design concept is full of vibrant color, and energy. I have other, safer, less vibrant options for Mary, as well… the decision is entirely up to her!
